The Ellis House – Fairmont, WV

May 2, 2026 brought a classic West Virginia spring day to The Ellis House in Fairmont, slightly chilly, but full of charm. While there was a crispness in the air, everyone was grateful for one very important detail -no rain in the forecast. Instead, soft overcast skies settled in, creating the dreamiest, most flattering light for portraits throughout the day.

That gentle, diffused light paired perfectly with the wedding’s vibrant aesthetic. Bright spring colors popped beautifully against the muted sky, especially in the bridesmaids’ mismatched dresses. Each gown ranged from blush pinks to soft blues to floral prints to butter yellow—felt playful and unique, yet together they created a cohesive, joyful palette that stood out in every photo.

The couple embraced the cool weather, leaning into cozy, candid moments that made the day feel even more intimate. One of the most memorable highlights was including their dog, Maverick, in their portraits. With his energetic personality and undeniable charm, Maverick added an extra layer of personality (and a few laughs) to an already lively day.

From the heartfelt ceremony to a reception filled with nonstop dancing and celebration, the energy never wavered. Guests bundled up just enough to stay comfortable, but the excitement and warmth of the day carried everyone through.

In the end, the overcast skies turned out to be a quiet gift—softening the light, enriching the colors, and allowing every moment to shine in its own beautifully authentic way. It was a spring wedding that proved you don’t need golden sunshine for a perfect day.
